Nganampa Health Council is pleased to announce that it is now an Accredited General Practice through Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL). AGPAL accredits general practices in Australia. All practices accredited with AGPAL are assessed against standards provided by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. All NHC offices and clinics were surveyed and have met RACGP standards

AGPAL accredited practices meet a set of standards set by the RACGP to ensure safe high quality care is delivered to patient. The standards cover areas such as practice services, rights and needs of patients, quality assurance and education, practice administration, and physical factors.

Pukatja Clinic Opening
The Hon Warren Snowdon MP, Minister for Indigenous Health, Rural and Regional Health and Regional Services Delivery officially opened the new Pukatja Clinic on the 9th of November.

The new clinic includes an x ray room with a new digital x ray unit, a dental clinic and more treatment rooms with increased privacy.

The Minister also toured the aged care facility operated by Nganampa Health at Pukatja, and met with members of our Board to discuss e health developments.

The Minister is well known to many of the residents of the APY lands and commented on his times when he was taken hunting on past visits.

Grocery Manager and FOODcard
Nganampa Health Council’s Mai Wiru project, in conjunction with Worldsmart Retail is currently in the process of installing Grocery Manager and FOODcard in the Mai Wiru Stores on the APY Lands.

FOODcard is a voluntary quarantining system, using smart card technology. It will allow Anangu to better budget for food and essentials, reducing the number of mai wiya (no food) days. Iwantja, Mimili, Kaltjiti and Amata are currently online with FOODcard with the rest of the stores to be completed by Christmas. Money put on FOODcard in one store can then be used in any Mai Wiru store. FOODcard can only be used to purchase healthy foods and essential household items and cannot be used to purchase for example, cigarettes or unhealthy takeaway items.
