ImageNganampa Health Council is an Aboriginal owned and controlled health service. As part of our philosophy, we aim to maximise the number of Anangu staff that we employ. We would like Anangu to be employed in all aspects of our operations and for this to happen we need Anangu doctors, nurses, accountants and managers.

Undertaking tertiary level education is a difficult task for the residents of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands. In general students have to study in a foreign environment a long way from home. Students can be away from friends and family for months at a time and the costs involved can be very expensive.

Nganampa Health has been thinking about ways we could help make tertiary education easier and have set up an Anangu Study Scholarship.

Many of our staff are making regular fortnightly contributions via our payroll and donations have also been received from interested members of the public.

The fund has sufficient contributions to allow us to offer scholarships to Anangu undertaking tertiary level studies from the beginning of the 2006 year.

Any Anangu residents of the APY Lands who are enrolled or are enrolling in tertiary studies for 2006 may apply for the scholarship. Application should be addressed to the Health Committee.

The Health Committee will decide who will be supported. A scholarship amount of $100 per week will be paid to the chosen student while they are actively involved in the study program. Any formal tertiary level of study in a recognised university or institution will be eligible. Annual financial support of a fixed weekly amount will be committed for one year at a time. These payments will stop if the student withdraws from study part way through a year. Previous applicants can reapply for a second or further year scholarship as long as they are still actively enrolled and have successfully passed the previous year of study.

Thanks to the donations made by many generous donars, we have sufficient donations to continue operating the fund for a number of years and as a result we are currently not accepting donations.
